More about this employer

Executive Office Manager

Mid Sussex District Council is a dynamic, forward thinking local authority in the heart of southern England. We have clear priorities, and are proud that our service provision is consistently rated highly by the local community. We are based in easily accessible Haywards Heath at the centre of the largest opportunity for development identified in the Coast 2 Capital Strategic Economic Plan and the Greater Brighton City Deal.

As well as a number of attractive rural areas Burgess Hill and East Grinstead are two of the region’s major conurbations.  Current projects include major town centre revitalisation work in these areas.

We are a great employer to work for, situated in a glorious part of the country with great staff benefits to offer, including generous holiday, pension and free car parking.

EXECUTIVE OFFICE MANAGER (ACSD009)
Salary £29,577 pa - £32,910 pa

We are looking to recruit a positive, organised and flexible individual who is able to maintain a sense of calm in what can often be a pressurised political environment.

You will report to our Chief Executive, but also work to the Assistant Chief Executive, Council Leader and the organisation’s Management Team.  You will need to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the key issues being worked on by all of these individuals and be able to identify sensitive issues and handle them appropriately. Aspects of your work will involve liaising with Government Ministers, MPs and Senior Civil Servants, as well as external bodies and agencies at a national and regional level. One of the many key skills in all of your work will be to anticipate and problem solve very quickly.

You will have significant office experience supporting a Chief Executive or similar senior role and be confident in dealing with Councillors, members of the public and professional officers via several communication channels. You will be used to handling sensitive and confidential information on a regular basis, and therefore personal integrity is essential. Computer literacy is also very important as we make extensive use of technology and electronic systems

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact 01444 477243 and ask for Rowan Sky.
