Technical Support Officer

We have an opportunity within our Highway Operations Team for a Technical Support Officer to help us deliver our highway maintenance service in North Somerset.

Working in a small team you will be responsible for assisting Engineering and Technical staff with aspects of their work as well as leading on customer care and recording keeping. You will also be responsible for processing applications for advisory disable bays and keep clear road markings for our residents.

The team deliver a broad range of work from large resurfacing and drainage schemes to installing road markings and you should be confident in working with contractors and other teams both within and outside of North Somerset Council

The majority of the work is office based, however, there will also be opportunities to visit sites to undertake assessments and learn more about highway maintenance work.

You will be self-motivated and need to have good IT and communication skills, have a methodical approach and an eye for detail. You must be able to prioritise work effectively and be able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines. Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous although not essential.

You will join an established team who will support you in your development and who are passionate about the service they provide.
