About us

Planning and Environment Service is part of our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate.

Our Planning, Growth and Sustainability directorate work with partners to help shape the future of Buckinghamshire. We deliver services on planning, economic growth, regeneration, strategic infrastructure, transport and property. Our key priorities include developing the economic narrative for Bucks, creating more jobs and delivering the right infrastructure to help businesses and residents thrive.

Our recent transformation to a unitary council is already creating diverse and multi-disciplined opportunities across the directorate, and we are excited to see what is to come.

About the role

You will be responsible for managing the programme of projects associated with delivering the single back office system (UNIFORM). This will include setting up and managing the governance structure for the programme. You will work with the Service Director and Senior Leadership Team of the Directorate, to understand the needs and priorities of the business in order to develop a business case for the system implementation.

With a strong and supportive senior management team behind you, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve our Planning and Environment Business plan and drive forward our vision as a new unitary authority.

About you

Naturally, you'll have excellent interpersonal, persuasion, and negotiation skills with a high level of personal expertise and experience in Programme Management. You will be someone who has authority and credibility to build relationships and engage successfully with colleagues, partners and customers at all levels in complex or politically sensitive areas.

You will have a degree in a relevant subject (or relevant work experience).

Other information

Our response as an employer to Covid-19 has shaped the way we want to work in the future. Microsoft Teams, Skype, and vlogs from our Senior Leadership Team have all played their part in allowing us to become even more flexible in how, when, and where our teams work.

There will be times where you'll need to be in the office - whether that's for meeting clients or collaborating with peers - but we actively encourage our colleagues to adopt a flexible working approach and take control of their work-life balance.
