Social Worker - Adult Mental Health

Team: Mental Health Team - North

Salary: Grade H (SCP 26-30) or Grade I (SCP 31-35) dependent upon experience.

If appropriate this Salary is supplemented by an AMHP allowance of £1,848 a year paid on a pro rata basis.

A suitably qualified and experienced Social Worker is required to join Sefton’s Adult Community Mental Health Service in Southport.  Applications are welcome from all qualified social workers but preference will be given to those who are eligible to practice as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).

Sefton’s local authority mental health teams are co-located with health colleagues in order to provide person centred and holistic services to adults between the ages of 18 and 65 who require support from secondary mental health services.  The teams include social workers, community care practitioners and support workers and operate an innovative recovery service which aims to maximise independence and autonomy.

Social workers located within the teams provide a service in line with the principles of the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Mental Health Act (1983 and 2007). The role covers the full range of social work activities including safeguarding.  Eligibility to practice as an AMHP or willingness to train is an essential part of the role.

The post offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, regular supervision and flexible working policy.  Strong training opportunities are provided by Sefton Council aimed at promoting continuous professional development.

The closing date for applications is  31st October 2021 and interviews will be held on Friday 5 November at Hartley Hospital.

Should you wish to discuss this opportunity please contact Felicity Shepley, Team Manager, on 01704 383110.
