Salary NS6 £20,493 - £21,748 per annum (Pay Award Pending)

37 hours per week

We are now recruiting to two newly created posts within our Housing and Estates Management Team. As Housing Choice Advisors, you will be responsible for the assessment of applications to the Housing Register in accordance with the Councils Housing Allocations policy. The successful candidates will provide a front line, customer focused housing service, including the provision of housing advice and referral to specialised officers, which is underpinned by customer service and a fair and consistent approach.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for a range of duties relating to Housing Choice and the Housing Register including, but not limited to:

  • Investigating and assessing changes in circumstances
  • Undertaking application reviews
  • Providing advice and assistance to the public on all housing register related matters
  • Undertaking relevant administrative tasks
  • Responding to correspondence
  • Providing reports and statistical information
  • Assisting Senior Officers with the investigation of complaints
  • Supporting colleagues with project work

In addition to the above, you will also be required to maintain a working knowledge and understanding of current legislation and good practice with regards to housing legislation, regulations and case law.

The successful candidates will have previous experience of giving housing advice to the public, and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in line with policies, procedures and legislative guidance to make decisions. You will be able to communicate effectively with a range of people and will have tact and diplomacy where needed. You will also be able to prioritise a varied workload and will have a methodical and organised approach to tasks, ensuring accuracy and good record keeping.
