Sheltered Housing Officer

We are looking for a motivated and performance driven individual to work with older people, delivering excellent customer focused services within our Older Peoples Services Team.

If you are enthusiastic, want to continually help improve services for older people, can work in a team or on your own initiative then this role may be for you.

Working in our Older Peoples Services Team you will be responsible for visiting and overseeing the Council’s sheltered housing properties across the district.

Assisting residents to live independently, you will visit residents, monitor their well-being and provide support and assistance when required.

With the help of modern alarm equipment, you will be able to contact residents and respond quickly in emergencies, summoning doctors or other professional help as necessary.

Our Sheltered Housing Officers also work with other sections within the Council to promote social inclusion and help facilitate social activities involving the wider community.

To be successful in this challenging role you will need to have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently, have good IT skills, a flexible approach and the ability to organise your own workload.

Record keeping, completing tenant support plans, risk assessments and personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPs) are also key skills.

You will also be required to test the emergency alarm equipment and fire alarm equipment regularly.

Participation in on-call arrangements with other Sheltered Housing Officers is a requirement of this role, therefore the ability to visit residents, attend other sheltered housing schemes or meetings etc. where public transport does not exist or is limited is essential.

This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

You will be required to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

18 hours a week Monday 9.30am – 1.30pm, Tuesday – Friday 9.30am - 1pm

12 month Temporary Contract from date of appointment
