You will have a Social work qualification e.g. Degree in Social Work; Dip SW or equivalent.   Be an experienced Social worker, Approved Mental Health Professional qualified or the ability and desire to train as an AMHP. Have some working knowledge of Child Protection Procedures and/or working knowledge of Adult Protection Procedures and be registered with Social Work England and able to evidence this. 

Your experience should include working with vulnerable adults, children and families in a variety of settings and you should have experience of working with people in emotionally charged crises pertaining to social care.

You will need to have good knowledge of legislation relevant to child protection, mental health and safeguarding adults and be able to demonstrate legally compliant practice' and be able to resolve high level problems, often inter agency and adhere to policies, procedures and legislation and act autonomously in high risk circumstances, using judgement based on professional experience.'

You will ensure that all enquiries are appropriately and promptly recorded to standards set by the Children and Young Peoples Service and by Adult and Community Services in accordance with good practice guidelines. The post holder will be an Emergency Duty Team Sessional social worker working out of hours, ensuring that an effective and efficient service is provided to children, young people and vulnerable adults including those with mental health issues who require an emergency response.

In this role, you'll develop a demonstrable level of practice and continued professional development and within the standards of conduct, performance and ethics as described by Social work England, ensuring compliance with legal, organisational and multi-agency requirements, work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, carrying out assessments on a statutory and non-statutory basis of people who may experience a severe and enduring mental health need, taking into account the wishes of the patient, relatives, carers and other involved professionals.

You will Act in the role of an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and Comply with all relevant legislation and act in accordance with local authority policies and procedures.  Also be able to carry out the duties of a Child Protection Social Worker operating under the auspices of section47 of the Children Act1989 and duties in respect of vulnerable adults as provisional under the Care Act 2014.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to work within a dynamic emergency team covering out of hours safeguarding for adults and children.
