About Us

In Camden we are committed to working together to make our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Partnership with our communities is central to the way we work, so that everyone can access opportunities, and nobody gets left behind. This role will lead complex Community Investment Programme development projects ensuring innovation, best practice and best value in project development, design and delivery.

The Role

The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Team Leader and provide specialist professional support and advice to Development Managers across the Development Division.

You will manage and deliver a portfolio of development projects whereby capital receipts will be generated to fund the delivery of new and replacement affordable homes, schools and community facilities and to secure inward investment in existing housing to provide decent homes for Camden residents.

Key functions will include developing innovative ways of delivering on the objectives set out in ‘Our Camden Plan’, leading the procurement and overseeing the day to day management of development projects as well monitoring and reporting on project performance to senior managers and elected members.

You will proactively engage with residents, community groups and businesses, and with key project stakeholders and elected members to ensure that full consideration is taken of the local needs and opportunities presented by new development.

About You

You will hold a relevant degree in construction, development or regeneration, or equivalent experience and evidence of continuous professional development.

You will have thorough knowledge of town planning practice, development and land acquisition practice, and housing development standards as well as an understanding of how regeneration initiatives can be used to address deprivation, access to services, issues around community safety and cohesion.

You will have a proven track record across required project management skills on technically complex construction projects including negotiation skills, stakeholder and resident engagement, strong knowledge of procurement processes and construction contracts for delivering development projects.

To succeed, you will possess the organisation and management skills required to lead multi-disciplinary teams and independent contractors/consultants on technically complex projects.
