ICT Support Technician

There has recently been an extensive restructure of the ICT function within the Council in order to provide high quality, modern ICT services to internal departments.

We are therefore currently seeking an enthusiastic Support Technician to work in the Support Team within ICT Operations. This is a permanent post. Applicants should have experience working as part of a team, independently using their own initiative and be able to demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure amongst changing priorities.

The Support team focus on 2nd and 3rd line support of technology and business applications for all areas of the organisation.

You will be providing support for Windows servers, MS Active Directory, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, MS Office applications, business applications, multi-function devices, mobile and fixed line communications, workstation management and deployment via Microsoft SCCM, wired & Wi-Fi networks and ICT projects.

The successful candidate will have knowledge in a wide range of technical subject areas, excellent communications skills and will have a proactive “can do” attitude.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Support Technician looking for a new opportunity, or an experienced 1st line support assistant looking for further challenges.

The hours of work are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday based at The Old Fire Station Building, Lancaster. Due to the nature of the work some out of hours / weekend working will be required.

The successful applicant will be subject to clearance to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard.

Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.

Please note that this post is under job evaluation and the salary and role responsibilities are subject to change.

Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
