Group Leader Plans Policy and Place Making M200

Charnwood is a vibrant and exciting borough with a population of 180,000 located between the three cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. The main urban centre is the thriving university town of Loughborough and this is complemented by small towns and villages set within attractive countryside.

The Opportunity

There is a challenging agenda for growth in Leicester and Leicestershire. The role provides an opportunity to make a significant and immediate contribution to this in leading the council’s local plan through the forthcoming examination in public in spring 2022.  We will offer you plentiful and varied experience in a key management role within our Planning and Regeneration Service and an opportunity to develop your management skills in leading the Economic Development & Regeneration Team and our team of conservation, ecology and design specialists in the Natural and Built Environment Team.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, motivated and organised planning professional with substantial experience of planning policy preparation and experience of leading local plans through to adoption. You may already be leading a local plan team or be looking to make the next step in your career towards management. You will need to be a team player with a positive approach, willing to contribute to the delivery of transformational change and continuous improvement to secure excellent customer service.

In return, we offer the following key benefits:

  • Agile working
  • Professional fees paid
  • free parking
  • Subsidised leisure facilities
  • Town Centre & Train Station walking distance to office
  • Leicester, Nottingham & Derby less than 30 mins away
