East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council that works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.
We will provide an excellent benefits package, which includes: generous annual leave; flexi-time; and access to a Local Government Pension Scheme, salary sacrifice cycle scheme, employee assistance programme, personal healthcare scheme and our outstanding learning and development opportunities.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people and projects manager to join our team and help shape our parking service during a period of change and opportunity. In a service which is critical to delivering funding support for our other frontline services, as well as supporting a thriving local economy, you will be instrumental in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and a small and dedicated team to deliver an effective and successful car parking provision throughout the district with a focus on digital delivery, maintaining our assets and generating revenue against a backdrop of our response to the climate emergency.
The role will involve improving our digital delivery through our recently implemented parking application and electronic payment services, managing service contracts, and keeping the day to day operations running smoothly whilst identifying and implementing projects associated with the management of our car parks which contribute to the delivery of our core objectives.
You will need to be a seasoned people manager who is adept at successfully managing relationships, engendering a ‘can do’ spirit and bringing stakeholders with you on a journey of change. You will also have a demonstrable track record of implementing projects and initiatives together with a working knowledge of civil parking enforcement services. Your experience in this sector will already give you an understanding of the ways in which car parking services can impact upon local communities, businesses and other stakeholders as well as traffic congestion, local air quality management and the climate emergency. As someone who understands and embraces newtechnology and digital solutions, you will be able to make best use of them to deliver a problem free customer experience. You will also be adept at working with suppliers and other stakeholders for the success of the service.
