The salary range for this position is £92,279 up to £114,404 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We're less about you driving to work and more about us collectively driving down our carbon footprint. Our commitment to delivering good quality, cost effective services is more important than ever as we start to move out of a global pandemic and step into uncertain times. We do know that the constraints on public finances will continue for the foreseeable future and that we will need to deliver services in a fundamentally different way. While presenting a challenge, this also provides significant opportunities for us to take a more radical approach, seeking new ways to manage our finances while delivering innovative and high-quality services for our residents and communities.
Existing service focused approaches have been successful in delivering efficiencies but are now largely exhausted. We are developing a ‘twin track’ approach, running the 2022/23 budget setting process while simultaneously developing a new, innovative outlook to 2023/24 onwards that will help put the council on a more stable financial footing over the medium term, as well as setting in train a fundamentally more ambitious transformation programme.
As part of developing this twin track approach we are creating a core programme team to lead and drive forward this important agenda.
To lead this team, we are seeking an experienced Programme Director to take responsibility for developing a range of initiates that will address the financial challenges faced by the Council.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop, shape and deliver strategies that will inform how the Council manages its finances in the future.
The role is offered as a fixed term contract, initially for 12 months and will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive & Executive Director of Resources, whilst working collaboratively with our finance, transformation, and strategy teams along with key stakeholders across the organisation and partners.
