Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to making the district a cleaner, safer and greener place to live, work and visit. This is reflected in the objectives of our Community Plan, and the Environmental Services Business Unit has this at the heart of its activities.
Working for NSDC, you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of a generous holiday allowance, discounted gym membership and a competitive local government pension. With the majority of your work being regular hours, you will also be able to maintain a healthy work life balance and will be working with a friendly and supportive team.
We have a vacancy for a LGV Driver in the Environmental Services Business Unit for a Class 2 Driver to cover various duties within the Waste Management, Recycling and Street Scene parts of the service. The roles will entail working outside in all weathers. You will need to be able to start early in the morning and some weekend work is also anticipated. Experience in wheeled bin refuse collection and / or mechanical road sweeping would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.
The ability to work alone and unsupervised is essential, as is a full Category C driving licence (Heavy Goods Class 2). In addition to the licence, you should also have completed 35 hours of CPC training and be in possession of a Drivers CPC card. The successful applicant will also be fully aware of all aspects of European Drivers Legislation and its impact on the service.
