Looking for a new adventure and a PROFESSIONAL challenge? We have the job for you!

These are exciting times for the Falkland Islands, with the delivery of the ambitious aims of the Islands Plan. Suitable port facilities are an essential enabler for the economy, with approximately 95% of goods imported to the Falkland Islands shipped by sea. The Falkland Islands Government took a significant decision to award a contract to design and build a new port for the Falkland Islands in 2020, and has recently started the Detailed Design stage for the project. FIG is seeking a Port Project Manager, to deliver this major national infrastructure project.

Based in the Falkland Islands, and reporting to the Port Senior Project Manager, the role will be challenging and fast-paced. You will take responsibility for project managing delivery of identified project workstreams and governance of the new port development project. This will include project management of workstreams relating to the design and build contract, FIG directly delivered workstreams, and management of internal and external multi-disciplinary professional and construction project teams. You will also provide support to the Senior Project Manager in all aspects of project and financial management and in reporting to the Project Board; ensuring successful stakeholder engagement and collaboration, governance and delivery within the agreed budget, time and quality parameters.

You will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, (or other evidence of working in a role at a similar level) and a relevant project/programme management qualification such as Prince 2, APM qualification, PMI and/or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).

You will have at least 6 years’ experience of delivering large and complex projects of high value and profile, on time and within budget. You will also have demonstrable experience in the successful application of project management methodologies.

You will have strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations, write meaningful reports and engage pro-actively and constructively with diverse audiences and to communicate confidently with all levels of stakeholders.

Experience and knowledge of managing large civil engineering infrastructure projects and using the NEC suite of contracts would be beneficial.

  • Fixed Term Contract of up to 4 years
  • Salary (inclusive of eligibility for 25% taxable gratuity) c£53K - c£71K per annum (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
  • 41 days paid annual leave (inclusive of 11 government and public holidays).
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package for you and any dependents accompanying you to post.
  • Government Housing for rent and a starter pack to help you settle in.

Applicants seeking secondment or interchange opportunities are welcome to apply.

Please note, successful applicants with Falkland Islands Status/Permanent Resident Permits will be employed on local terms and conditions.

If you have the drive and ambition to be successful in this challenging role, and wish to share our ambition for the future of the Falkland Islands and the people we serve, then we certainly want to hear from you.
