Family Centre Administrator


A part time role (18 hours per week: 9am – 3pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) to support the delivery of the family centre service in order to provide targeted early intervention and support for families with children aged 0-11 years identified as requiring early help.


Family Centres are part of a wider Family Service in Surrey that supports families that are the most vulnerable.  Family Centre services are part of a local integrated system that builds family resilience, improving life chances for these children.  The location of services will vary and will be based in different venues across Runnymede Borough.


  • Acting as a point of contact for the team, dealing with queries, assessing the nature of telephone calls, referring them to the appropriate person and receiving visitors (including responsibility for security procedures in relation to visitors to the centre)
  • To arrange and coordinate a range of meetings on behalf of the service (meeting room bookings, preparation of meeting rooms, clearing of meeting rooms and room security), ensuring that meetings run smoothly and any action points are followed up, electronically dispatching the relevant documents in advance of the meeting and record and take minutes for meetings when required
  • To be responsible for general and complex clerical and administrative support to the centre e.g. photocopying, filing and scanning and routine correspondence, and ordering resources and equipment for the Family Centre under the direction of the Family Services Manager and for receiving and checking deliveries, maintaining a system for collating receipts and invoices


  • A good general education qualified to A Level or an NVQ level 3 in Business Administration, or equivalent qualification or substantial level of work experience in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of working in a people focused environment both face to face and on the telephone
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive issues effectively
  • Experience of using Microsoft packages including Outlook/Word/Publisher/Exce
  • A good understanding of the importance of safeguarding, and will ensure that the Centre’s aims and objectives in relation to safeguarding are promoted in every day organisation and practice.
