Hours and Location: Casual Hours across all Libraries in the North Area: Ampthill, Biggleswade, Flitwick, Potton, Sandy, Shefford & Stotfold

More About the role:

We want Central Bedfordshire to be a great place to live and work, that means giving our communities an outstanding service and providing local people with a much-loved and valued resource. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is able to provide a first class service to the customers in our Libraries on a casual basis, you will cover sickness and annual leave. We need you to be available sometimes at short notice during the week and Saturdays. We also require you to be able to work at several locations.

You will deliver a high level of customer service and interact effectively with a wide range of people. You will be carrying out a range of day to day duties including assisting customers to use our self-service terminals, finding books and information for customers, taking part in promotional activities for both children and adults and dealing with library stock. You will actively promote and encourage use of the Library.

You will help to deliver a vibrant, high quality, relevant and sustainable library service by contributing to Library Strategy priorities, engaging with new and existing customers and helping to increase Library usage, and supporting the continuing modernisation and transformation of this important service.

Experience of working with the public in front line customer service, IT skills (GNVQ level 2 or equivalent) and an interest in books, reading and information are essential. While experience of working in a Library would be advantageous, more importantly you will bring enthusiasm, great communication skills and excellent customer service.
