The starting salary for these roles is £24,780 per annum (for 36 hours per week).
The office base is Leatherhead however Surrey County Council operates a remote working policy and there will be opportunity to work from different locations according to business need. This includes working from home, in our Children's Single Point of Access in Woking, and with schools in one of Surrey's North West quadrant. As such, travel is a necessary part of the role and you must therefore have a full driving licence and the use of a car.
Over the last few years children’s services in Surrey have undergone a rapid transformation and we are looking for proactive individuals to join us in moving forward with continuous improvements and working towards robust and positive outcomes for our children.
As a Locality Early Help Advisor you will join our Early Help and Partnerships team. The team is part of the Early Help Directorate and within the team we have 4 Parenting Coordinators, 3 Family Centre Advisors and 4 Locality Early Help Advisors (LEHA).
The role of the locality Early Help Advisor is to support and assist schools to identify appropriate help for children and their families that are in their school. You will work with schools within the quadrant to develop an early help offer for families to ensure families receive the right help, in the right way, at the right time to reduce the need for them to refer children to statutory services. You will support schools to complete early help assessments and undertake Team around the Family meetings. The role does not involve direct work with the families, though at times you may be expected to speak to families as part of the support to the school.
This role will require you to be able to establish effective relationships with colleagues, partners, children and families, working respectfully in a way which encourages them to recognise what help they require and empowering them to develop strategies to support their needs. You must have the ability to communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure and deal with each request confidentially, applying a discreet and sensitive approach to all that you do.
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence that you:
- Have a good knowledge of the Early Help Assessment process and leading a Team around the Family
- Have previous experience of working with children and families
- Have previous experience of delivering training
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of building and maintaining successful working relationships
- A commitment to working in partnership to support our children, young people and families
- Have the ability to plan your work using your own initiative
- Have good IT skills.
