Principal Planning Officer

Horsham District Council has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planning Officer within our Planning Applications Team.

Horsham is a varied and vibrant District and you will assist in bringing forward our vision for sustainable growth and economic development.

As a Principal Planning Officer, you will assist in the management of our Planning Applications Team, ensuring that planning applications are considered and determined in line with planning legislation and Council policies.

As an experienced Development Management officer the role will involve supervising and coaching members of your team to assist in their day to day roles and continued professional development. You will also prepare and authorise reports for both delegated decisions and committee agendas.  This will require excellent interpersonal skills to represent the Council at all levels and to liaise effectively with other departments across the organisation and externally.

We work co-operatively with developers, applicants, businesses and agents to achieve the best possible outcomes, and a key part of the role will be to lead on customer service improvements across the team.

You will be working with a friendly, supportive and dedicated team.  You will have a degree level standard of education in a relevant subject and be eligible for full membership of the RTPI.
