Do you have supervisory skills that you would like to use in a unique setting, and engage with and lead a small team, and know that you are making a difference to the local community?
As a Senior Crematorium Technician, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the service that you and your team provide is the best service possible for the bereaved families of Kent and Sussex, at our Crematorium in Hawkenbury at Tunbridge Wells. Take a look at our website here
What do the existing team say about working here? “It’s a privilege to be a part of somebody’s final journey, and “we take pride in providing the best service possible.” “I feel that I’m making a difference”, and “we are a caring team”.
The Kent and Sussex Crematorium is part of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, and the benefits of working for us are outlined further here, but essentially include a good CARE pension scheme, 22 days annual leave (increasing to 27 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service), with an additional day in December, and continuing training opportunities for professional development.
As the senior you will lead the team in providing customer service to the highest possible level to bereaved families, visitors and stakeholders, and have some technical ability to deal with maintenance of machinery and systems and be directly responsible for the operation of the cremators ensuring that these are compliant with the terms of our environmental permit and that your team follow all onsite risk assessments and safety protocols. You will already have at least 1 year’s cremation experience and hold the ICCM Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme certificate (CTTS).
This is a varied role that enables the holder to demonstrate their leadership skills, managing resources available to them, to provide a first class and professional service across all areas of the site, whether this be in the Crematory or in the grounds researching memorial locations, or in the administration office or leading a scattering of ashes with a family. Every day is different.
Working hours are 37 hours per week, covering a shift pattern of Monday to Friday 08:30 to 19:15. On occasion there may be a requirement to work additional hours (for which you will be paid overtime)
