The Educational Support for Medical Absence (ESMA) is an educational teaching service for children with medical needs, which sits within Access and Inclusion, part of the Integrated Services for Learning (ISL) portfolio within Children’s Services.
ISL is a multi-disciplinary service comprising of SEND Specialist Advice and Support services, Access & Inclusion Services, Educational Psychologists and Statutory services. Within the service, there is a vacancy for a Senior Teacher post for the Educational Support for Medical Absence (ESMA).
The post holder will support the County Lead Teacher for ESMA, ensuring quality and equity of service delivery in a geographic area. They will teach KS3/KS4 in one of the core subjects (English, Maths or Science). Additionally, they will lead a team of teachers, and support staff to deliver an effective teaching programme to support access to learning and ensuring all children and young people make excellent progress and reintegrate successfully back to school.
As part of Integrated Services for Learning (ISL) the post holder will work closely with schools, health professionals and other agencies to ensure children absent from school for medical reasons are provided with the best possible education and supported to return to school when appropriate.
We are looking for an outstanding teacher to lead on outstanding practice with relevant experience and skills in working with children with medical needs (physical and mental), and an excellent communicator who also believes in the importance of pastoral care and support.
