Duties of the post:

The postholder will assist the Insurance Manager with the day to day management of the insurance provision for Adur & Worthing Councils, and for other Local Authorities as appropriate.  They will deputise for the Manager in their absence.

The post holder will assist in the management of the work of, and provide technical assistance to, the Insurance and Administration Assistants.

You will assist in the negotiation, procurement and provision of all insurance policies for the Councils, including the determination and implementation of policy terms and conditions and the payments of policy premiums to insurers. 

You will manage the processing and negotiation of the settlement of claims made against the Councils, taking the lead on specific Councils or types of claim, with the authority to manage those claims to conclusion.

You will assist with the on-going maintenance, monitoring and revision of the Councils’ Risk Management Strategy, and the performance of all insurance related activities, including preparing and maintaining related Risk Management and Insurance Fund budgets.

You will report on, and where necessary attend quarterly meetings on, claims for one or more of the external Councils, with an aim to highlight problem areas with a view to putting risk mitigation measures in place, to reduce the risk. 

You need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
