Head of Finance and Customer Services (S151)
Salary to £67k (plus £3k car allowance)
As a large and successful district council, North West Leicestershire has every reason to be confident about the future. We have a booming economy, which includes all the benefits of having East Midlands Airport in the district, we are working with partners to establish the East Midlands Freeport, and the regeneration of Coalville continues apace.
In addition, we are on target to open a new £21m leisure centre in 2022 which will support our ambition to create healthier communities.
Within the Council, we have worked hard as a team over the last 18 months to support our residents - and we have emerged stronger than ever. Like many other authorities, we are moving to a ‘hybrid’ model of operating which will result in increased remote working, greater flexibility, and changes to our accommodation strategy. We are now looking ahead to ensure that the council is equipped to thrive in what is a challenging financial situation across the sector. Our new Head of Finance and Customer Services, as the Section 151 officer, will work closely with Members and the CLT to develop and implement our approach to strategic financial planning.
The role also covers customer services, giving the successful candidate the chance to build their career as well as make the most of the synergies across these key services. We are therefore seeking forward thinking, innovative and politically astute candidates who can work at a strategic level as well as develop what is already a very strong team. We are not restricting our search to people with a local government background; assuming you have the appropriate financial qualifications and experience, we are more interested in your ability to work corporately, bring fresh thinking, and offer robust and assured advice.
