More about the role:

 

The Capital Construction Service has been established to bring under one remit all of the Council’s major construction activities including residential, commercial, health and social care, agricultural and educational buildings.  Staff in the service work on an exceptional variety of construction projects within Central Bedfordshire. Projects can include extending or modifying existing properties as well as constructing new ones and will range in value up to £10M with no two jobs the same.

 

We are looking for an experienced, talented and personable Construction Project Manager to join our team.  You will engage with Clients and Stakeholders to draw out the project requirements, defining the brief, setting up the project from its inception and carrying it through to completion.  Knowledge of design and construction is required in order to manage the work streams and procedures that form part of capital projects.  Site experience is great, but it’s the experience of working with clients from the very beginning that you will bring to the role and will add real value to our projects. If you have previously worked as an Employers Agent then we would love to hear from you too.

 

You will have experience of Change Control, Project Programming and Risk Registers.  It is essential that all projects are delivered in accordance with legislation and regulations, and you will have the knowledge and skills to enable this.  Financially and commercially astute you will be responsible for project budgets, including monitoring, forecasting project spend, decision making and financial reporting.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle is a requirement. Client side experience from Project Start-Up is required, and a high-level knowledge of design and construction using RIBA stages is invaluable. You should be used to providing presentations to Senior Managers at Director level and leading projects to successful completion at an individual project value up to £10M
