Commercial Estate Manager

This is an opportunity to work for an ambitious local authority with a vision for improving the quality of life for everyone in the borough. At Hertsmere you’ll be working for a unique council which owns the world-famous Elstree Studios in an area rich with film, television and media connections. Located just outside of North London in southern Hertfordshire, Hertsmere benefits from both extensive greenbelt countryside and also excellent transport links to London and the Home Counties.

We are looking to recruit a Commercial Estate Manager to manage our small but busy Estates team. The role covers all aspects of Estate Management, including handling the acquisition and disposal of land and buildings, and carrying out landlord and tenant functions, valuations and development appraisals. Additionally the role is responsible for the day to day management of non-operational properties and for giving professional advice to Council Members and Officers on all matters related to the Estate.

Candidates must have membership of the RICS with extensive experience of estate management and valuations. Effective communication and people management is key to this role, so the necessary skills to manage and motivate a team and the ability to negotiate and influence successfully at all levels is essential.

If you are self-motivated and a technically competent Estates professional who is keen to make a real different to the lives of our residents, then this is the role for you. You will be rewarded with the flexibility of acting on your own initiative and managing your day to day workload, together with the opportunity to progress your career in a deputising capacity.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).

Benefits include 25 – 30 days annual leave (depending on the length of Local Government Service) plus one floating day per annum, local government pension scheme, flexible working hours (including home working), free car parking, free use of leisure facilities, cycle scheme, season ticket loans and access to a large staff roof garden.

Closing date: Midday 24 January 2022
