The Procurement team is CIPS accredited for Procurement Excellence and provides high quality, professional support as part of a shared service to the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest and the London Borough of Redbridge, who between them have a combined capital project pipeline in excess of £800m. These projects cover regeneration, housing, education and civic infrastructure and reflect a new level of impetus and investment in both Councils.
As part of our ongoing commitment to improvement, we are looking to recruit an experienced Supplier Improvement Manager/Contract Manager to provide advice, guidance and support to stakeholders across Waltham Forest and Redbridge Councils in driving the best from their suppliers in performance and value. The role will also tackle pre-procurement commissioning activities; contract management best practice; contract under performance and provide advice and guidance on in-term variation and exit.
As well as a background in contract and supplier management, the successful individual will have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage professionally with all level of stakeholders and suppliers. Strong organisational skills are also required, along with the ability to self-motivate and inspire others.
You will be working directly with the Head of Category for Supplier Improvement and Projects to build upon and continue to develop a successful approach to promoting the need for robust management of suppliers. The role will include working on a one to one level with colleagues from junior to very senior level within Waltham Forest and Redbridge Councils and providing individual and group training. Although the main focus of the role will be to support others in contract management, there may be some key corporate contracts that you will take the lead on. It is also anticipated that you may need to step into some supplier meetings/negotiations in order to manage a successful outcome.
The post sits within the procurement team and you will work closely with procurement colleagues to identify stakeholders and contracts that will benefit from your expertise.
