We are currently recruiting for three Early Help and Children and Families Birth to 19 Manager, to join our Early Help and Children & Family Service Management Team. In this role you will have an opportunity to use your social work skills in a preventative setting- helping families before they need a statutory intervention, working with partners to ensure families get the Right Help at the Right time

Who we are looking for:

-         Social Work Manager with a commitment to Early Help and relationship-based practice

-         You will have at least 3 years of post-qualifying experience, and will be able to confidently lead your team to make a difference to children’s lives, modelling best practice and addressing performance issues

-         You will have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures, and will support your team through supervision reflection and modelling, to support families to improve their lives

What Early Help means in Tower Hamlets:

Early Help means taking action to support a child, young person and/or their family early in the life of a challenge they may face, intervening at the earliest opportunity. Early Help may be needed at any stage in a child's life from pre-birth to adulthood and applies to any problem or need that a family may need support with. Early Help and Early Intervention has the potential to transform the lives of children, young people and their families especially those who are disadvantaged from an early age.

When delivered successfully Early Help reduces stress on families and communities, ensures that families receive the Right Help at the Right Time and relieves some of the pressure on statutory services.

The primarily the role will involve:

•The coordination and delivery of family support work in a locality area

• Managing a team of Early Help, Birth-19 Practitioners, who work with families with additional or complex needs, but below the threshold for statutory social care intervention; providing Level 2 support

•Work in partnership with the Joint Area Coordinators within the Children & Family Centre’s to ensure that families are able to access the ‘Right Help at the Right time’; ensuring the smooth running of the Children and Family Centres.

•You will supervise staff and provide effective case management on cases with varying degrees of complexity, giving appropriate levels of guidance and support

•You will work with the team and individuals to promote development and well-being.

•You will work with statutory social work colleagues to ensure that cases that step-up to or down from them, do so in a safe and planned way.

•You will work in accordance with national and local policies and procedures, and use the law, regulatory and statutory guidance to inform practice decisions.

•You will prepare and produce a variety of high-quality professional reports and guidance documents and will be able to deliver presentations to staff and partners.

•You will work with schools, health, and partner agencies and represent the Council at a range of meetings, proceedings and reviews as required. You will ensure effective intervention as well engage in preventative work.
