Job introduction

We have created this new post to provide specialist and technical support to Project Managers in the delivery of civil engineering projects associated with the council’s coastal protection programme and the highway structures programme.

About the role

You will have good knowledge of relevant coastal defence or highway construction practice, process and design standards and project management experience.

This is an exciting time to join Brighton & Hove City Council within the Transport Projects and Engineering team. We have an ambitious range of projects to roll out across the city. Though much has already been achieved, much still needs to be done to improve services which will ensure the successful delivery of current projects, as well as developing new ones.

We offer great terms and conditions including the Local Government Pension Scheme, excellent training and development, generous annual leave and staff discounts.

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 37 per week

Interview date TBC.

Please contact David Parker on 01273 292474 or alternatively email David.parker@brighton-hove.gov.uk

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Shortlisting questions guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Please see Gov.uk for more information on the Skilled Worker Visa.
