Mid Sussex have ambitious targets to deliver a minimum of 16,390 new home by 2031 as set out in our District Plan. In order to achieve this, the district will experience substantial growth. In tandem with this growth, the Council has seen a year-on-year increase in planning applications and as such we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Planning Investigation team to help in delivering an efficient and pro-active planning and enforcement service.
The successful candidate will be expected to enforce the Council’s decisions on planning matters and undertake investigations with regard to contraventions of planning regulations. In support of the planning officers within the team, they will investigate and collect information/evidence of potential breaches of planning control and thereafter assist with any subsequent application, appeal and legal proceedings where required.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with a flexible approach, be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills. You should have experience of dealing with the public and ideally investigative work. Knowledge of the planning system and planning law would be useful while firmness, tact and diplomacy are also crucial requirements.
Along with this exciting opportunity we offer free staff parking, subsidized gym membership for you and your family, flexible working arrangements, including the potential for some home working, and a generous pension scheme.
Possession of a full driving license is a pre-requisite together with the use of your own car for use on Council business.
For an informal discussion please contact Andrew Clarke on 01444 477332.
