Our council is going through an exciting time of change. We have developed a new corporate business plan and a whole new approach to customer service where our priority is to put the customer first and offer a consistent ‘one team’ approach in everything we do.

Reporting to the Service Manager (Building Services) you will be responsible for maintaining the current high standards being achieved in the management of the council’s commercial portfolio.

Leading a small team of maintenance surveyors you will be tasked with ensuring all planned and responsive works are undertaken in line with the relevant statutory requirements in particular the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

The post holder will be required to have strong communication skills, an understanding of work prioritisation and a high level of attention to detail.

The Councils Building Services team is responsible for management of the repairs and maintenance, capital works and health and safety for the Councils operational land and buildings. The team also manages the debt collection and allocations of the Councils garage stock.

This role is responsible for leading the team in the management of Building Services and Garage Stock of the Council. This includes running key capital works projects and the planned maintenance programme. The post holder will support the budget setting and monitoring process, manage staff and ensure that buildings are maintained to a high standard (including cleaning and office moves), in a cost efficient manner and meeting all relevant legislation.

Specifically, the role is responsible for the preparation of feasibility studies, designing schemes, preparation of specifications and working drawings for planned maintenance programme, minor works and other projects for the Council’s non-housing property portfolio.

You will be responsible for managing a diverse team of external contractors and consultants, monitoring project and works delivery and ensuring that accurate records are maintained.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide technical advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this role.

The closing date for applications is 15 May 2022.

Assessments and interviews will be held on 23 & 24 May 2022.
