Family Support Coordinator (Ukrainian Resettlement) – Full Time (although part-time / job-shares considered) x 2 Posts

Fixed-term – 1 year with possibility to extend

Salary: £24,271 - £33,369 per annum

Are you passionate about making a difference and supporting families that need help? Can you engage effectively with whole families whilst managing expectations and personal boundaries? Do you have experience engaging with vulnerable people, working within a multi-agency context, keeping accurate records, assessing need and delivering a shared action plan?

Spelthorne Borough Council is recruiting a Family Support Coordinator to support and develop its work and that of Elmbridge Borough Council to help the successful resettlement of Ukrainian families as per the Government’s “Homes for Ukraine” scheme.  The post may also involve work supporting Ukrainian families arriving under the “Ukraine Family Scheme” and will support families in Elmbridge, and Spelthorne.

Although not essential, the ability to speak Ukrainian and or Russian would be an advantage as would an understanding and appreciation of the relevant cultural issues facing these families in adjusting to life in the UK. The successful candidate must also have a relevant qualification and/or professional experience in one of the following areas: child or adult social care, safeguarding, health, education, housing, youth work or work with parents.

Strong empathy and communication skills are imperative, and the successful candidate will be required to quickly build trust and rapport; helping families to integrate, become independent and move productively forward. Applicants will be passionate, assertive, transparent, flexible, committed to equality of opportunity, highly organised and committed to multi-agency working, with strong skills in assessment and intervention.

Please note, this post would be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements.
