Sefton Supply Service operates via a Service Level Agreement to Schools within the Borough of Sefton who commission Supply Teachers and Teaching Assistants to work in Sefton schools on an ad-hoc temporary basis. The Service and registered workers have a good and developing reputation with Sefton schools.
The Service has been running for over 20 years and holds a wealth of experience and knowledge. We engage Teachers in accordance with School Teacher Pay and Conditions for England and Teaching Assistants in accordance with National Joint Council Conditions of Service on Sefton’s Job Evaluated Grading System.
Our register contains fully qualified Teachers, and Teaching Assistants with the appropriate levels of qualification for the role. All of whom have a varying degree of expertise and specialism.
We are recruiting appropriately qualified Supply Teachers and Teaching Assistants to join our Service. Successful candidates will be registered with the Service and will, when deployed to one of our schools, positively contribute to the enrichment pupils learning and education whilst at the same time support schools to maintain the required staffing levels.
Not only will the successful candidates have a depth of relevant knowledge and experience, they will have the ability to create and develop strong positive professional relationships with Sefton Supply Team members and our school-based colleagues, and will also be an ambassador for both Sefton and Sefton Supply Service.
In addition to the selection processes detailed, registration with the service is also subject to:
- proof of identity (e.g. birth certificate, passport, driving license, marriage certificate (if applicable)
- proof of QTS/Qualifications
- receipt of satisfactory references covering all employment in the last two years of employment with a minimum of two references being sought, one from the most recent employer.
- Satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate with barred list checks) form £53.89 fee payable by supply teacher
- Satisfactory pre employment medical checks
- proof of national insurance number/right to work in the UK
Please note that due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed following satisfactory clearances including receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).
Supply Teacher (Primary and SEND)
Salary: Teacher Main Pay Range Point 2 - £27,600 per annum
(hourly rate £30.45 daily rate £152.25, statutory holiday pay element 14.36%
Location: Across Sefton Schools
Working Pattern: Term Time Only
DBS Check: Enhanced to work with children, including barred list checks

Supply Teacher (Primary and SEND)
As a registered Sefton Supply Service Teacher, you will be fully qualified and hold a wealth of relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Your nurturing skills will be of a high level that will provide a positive impact to pupils within our schools.
Candidates with applications that are shortlisted will be required to deliver a mini-teach at a local primary school along with an interview and a Safeguarding Assessment.
This post gains access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
All those registered with successfully Sefton Supply Service are required to undertake compulsory training prior to being deployed to one of our schools. This will include:
- CSE training
- KCSIE 2021
- Safeguarding Children and Young People
- Safeguarding Adult Awareness
- Climate Change
- Health and Safety
The above courses will need to be completed either annually or every 3 years but are all still mandatory.
Deployment is entirely dependent on day-to-day staffing within schools and work can by no means be guaranteed. When a request for a supply teacher/teaching assistant arises, contact will be made with you by a member of the Supply Service Team.
