We are looking for two highly self-motivated people with waste knowledge, strong organisational and communication skills to join our team. One post will be a permanent position, the second a one year fixed term contract.
The purpose of the role will be to assess the suitably of waste management plans in new developments and provide advice to architects and developers. You will act as the main point of contact with Waste Operations on new developments, carry out joint site visits to ensure compliance with the waste management plans and liaise with developers/managing agents to ensure a robust communications plan is in place to help users reduce, reuse and recycle as much waste as possible.
The borough is experiencing significant growth and this role provides an exciting opportunity in ensuring new properties and major developments have effectively designed waste management facilities to help manage and reduce the impact that property development has on environmental quality and waste collection services.
Responsible for providing technical advice and ensuring the planned inclusion and delivery of waste, recycling and cleansing services once properties are built and occupied.
Responsible for providing comments on all planning applications in relation to waste storage and collection arrangements.
To ensure effective management, planning and delivery of waste services to new customers.
To carry out site visits and inspections, alongside Waste Operations and landlords, to new developments to ensure correct implementation of the approved Waste Management Strategy and communication plan.
To be the technical link between the Environmental Services team and Planning, Development Control and Planning Enforcement Teams.
The role will require the officer to make site visits involving travel across the borough (public transport).
