Environmental Education Officer

We require an enthusiastic person to join our team delivering day and residential environmental education sessions for schools and other groups in the heart of 6,000 acres of ancient Epping Forest. Our 7-acre site is the perfect location to get outdoors, connect with nature, and learn about the climate & ecological crisis.
What we are looking for:
As an Environmental Education Officer, you will plan and deliver high quality outdoor environmental educational activities for groups from early years to post 16 as well as developing family and adult events, everything from bear hunts to A’ level ecology to corporate team building. You will have a thorough understanding of the climate emergency enabling you lead outreach sessions in schools and community venues across East London.
You will be able to work with the rest of the Suntrap team to assist with the work needed to develop and maintain our resources, including for teaching, grounds, and equipment.
You will have a knowledge and understanding of the natural world and be willing to continually learn.
The role is physically demanding and requires someone with a blend of skills and expertise, including field studies, leading workshops, bush craft and practical conservation. You will be required to work at weekends and out of hours, but at Suntrap every day is different and enjoyable.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Degree in ecology, environmental science, geography or related subject
Experience of planning and delivering high quality outdoor environmental education activities
Experience of working with children and young people
Clean DBS
Desirable:
Experience of delivering workshops in schools or community venues
Forest School Leader and/or bushcraft training
First aid qualification
