The role

An exciting opportunity has a risen for an ambitious candidate to strengthen our Development Management Team. Working with the Development Management Team Leaders, to assist  the Service Manager (Planning) with managing and developing the Council’s Development Management support service, to achieve organisational, performance and financial targets and in full compliance with all procedural and legislative requirements

To be responsible for the operational and day to day of the team whilst embedding a culture of continuous improvement in service quality, cost efficiency and customer responsiveness

Main responsibilities

Undertake a range of specialist tasks (please see JD person spec for full list) including:

  • Managing and deploying all technical support staff supporting Development Management and Planning Enforcement.
  • To assist the Service Manager, taking a key role in the delivery of an efficient and effective Development Management support service with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • To manage a team of technical support officers and work closely with the Development Management Team Leaders and officers, as well as peer and line management on a day to day basis.
  • To manage, and administer the UNIform (including PublicAccess) and Anite systems for the Development Management (DM) team.
  • To provide professional advice, information and guidance on all planning matters related to the planning support service.
