Committee Services Apprentice

Committee Services Apprentice (Full time 18 month temporary contract) 

Salary £21,076 to £22,003 per annum

We have a great opportunity in a varied and interesting role, to support local democracy, work with and alongside local politicians and senior officers across all departments, as well as to provide advice and information to members of the public.

Whether you are looking for your first job in this area or want to build on your experience, we are looking for people who:

  • Are highly motivated team players looking to develop their administrative skills, who are accurate and pay attention to detail.
  • Have strong ICT and English writing skills
  • Are highly organised with the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and are able to prioritise their workload under the guidance of colleagues and managers in order to meet sometimes tight deadlines.

The successful candidate will work across all aspects of the democratic process, including arranging meetings, to include tasks such as agenda setting, attending meetings and producing clear and accurate minutes. You will also work with colleagues to support councillors and senior officers across the council.

We will support your development and provide you with a solid knowledge of the framework for local authority decision making.  We will also support you in working towards gaining a recognised qualification at Level 3 in Business Administration.

This role will be based in the Council offices in Staines-upon-Thames, however we provide working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance including home working, dependent on service need. Candidates should note that this role will require some evening work for which an additional allowance is currently payable.

This post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements.
