The role of the Social Inclusion and VCS Partnerships Manager is to lead and develop the Council’s relationship with key partners including the Voluntary and Community Sector (“VCS”), other public sector organisations and local businesses with a focus on delivery of positive outcomes for local people in the more deprived areas of the Borough.

The post holder will work with the VCS and other stakeholders to shape the Council’s Social Inclusion agenda and deliver a programme of work to facilitate increased capacity and resilience within the VCS and address the underlying causes of exclusion.

About the role

Reporting to the Data Intelligence and Policy Manager, the role will develop a comprehensive understanding of the VCS, its service offers and touch points with across the Council.  You will provide a principal point of contact for the VCS and ensure that the Council’s work with the sector is coordinated and aligned.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership needed to develop the Council's positive and productive relationship with the VCS and other partners
  • Design and deliver an action plan to implement the recommendations of a review of the Council’s relationship with the VCS
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the Council’s Social Inclusion Strategy and priorities
  • Provide a first point of contact for the VCS and other partners, facilitating dialogue to identify and maximise joint working and funding opportunities
  • Work with the sector to identify and communicate funding opportunities to the sector and support and enable the efficacy of the sector’s bidding

About you

The following experience is required for this role:

  • Educated to degree level in relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Expert knowledge of the VCS and Local Government
  • Competent at establishing and managing cross sector strategic partnerships
  • Delivering coproduced outcomes which have added greater value to communities
  • Proactive and effective stakeholder engagement, consultation, and management
  • Effective communications at strategic and community level.
  • Financial and budget management
  • Contract and performance management
  • Working within a political environment
