Starting salary £31,951pa with potential progression to £34,765pa on achieving designated skills and experience

Here at Welwyn Hatfield, we take a great deal of pride in the service we provide to both our internal and external customers. We are looking for a proactive, forward thinking and enthusiastic Payroll and Processes Lead Officer to join our Finance Team.
Managing a team small of officers, you will take the lead on delivering a broad range of financial activities relating to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking. You will also working closely with the HR Team and play a key role in the ongoing development of the Payroll/HR system.
You will be responsible for managing the running of payrolls for the Council from ensuring accurate input to secure processing and meeting all statutory requirements for reporting. You will be required to keep abreast of all laws, regulations and guidance relating to the processing of payrolls.
You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices through Accounts Payable, the management of sundry debtor accounts and the processing of all income received in the Council’s bank account.

- Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Have significant experience of payroll including processing and reporting
- Able to manage the workloads of a busy team
- Be meticulous with an eye for detail
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
