Building Control Surveyor / Senior Building Control Surveyor

There has never been a more exciting time to join Building Control Solutions. We are expanding our building control team to ensure we deliver a dynamic, enabling service with the right people, to drive innovation, improvement, and growth in our communities. We are looking to recruit either a Building Control Surveyor or a Senior Building Control Surveyor depending on experience.

As a two-way shared service across the combined authorities of Wokingham Borough Council and the district of West Berkshire Council, Building Control Solutions has set out to deliver quality building control services using innovative approaches to working. We’re at the start of an exciting journey, and we’re looking for passionate people to help us to shape its next stage.

Reporting to a Principal Building Control Surveyor, you’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into projects in either the Wokingham or West Berkshire area. Because we are a shared service, you’ll take a flexible approach and may be required to move between the two locations.

Crucial to your role will ensure that our service users maintain compliance with building control regulations. You’ll check planning applications, undertake site visits, and provide effective advice to the service’s users.

Additionally, with your knowledge of the competitive issues surrounding building control, you’ll develop customer-oriented initiatives for the Service. You’ll take a proactive approach to your work, promoting the Building Control Service to secure major projects.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to hold an intermediate level qualification in Building Control.

You must have significant experience working in building control. You’ll also possess excellent working knowledge of building regulations and legislation relevant to enforcement.

In addition, you’ll have great communication skills, as you’ll need to be able to negotiate with customers and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

Building Control Solutions is a partnership between Wokingham Borough Council and West Berkshire Council. We have been awarded an ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation for our services and are looking forward to the future and taking on more ambitious projects than ever before.

Due to our shared service, you’ll have the chance to work in both the Wokingham and West Berkshire areas. This role will provide you with the perfect opportunity to develop your career through a diverse portfolio of major projects, such as large-scale housing developments, town centre redevelopment, and school development.

We’re passionate about providing an environment where our people can thrive. In return for your contribution, we offer personal learning and development opportunities, and you’ll receive fantastic benefits such as flexible working, the local government pension scheme and generous annual leave entitlement.

Building Control Solutions is committed to protecting the community, through our unparalleled expertise across the region. We provide trusted, high-quality advice helping us to be the provider of choice for Building Control services across Berkshire and beyond.
