More about the role:

Two exciting job opportunities have become available within the Tenancy Sustainment Team at Central Bedfordshire Council. Tenancy Sustainment is part of the wider Housing Services Team and lies within the Social Care, Health and Housing Directorate.

The Tenancy Sustainment team provide advice and guidance to enable our tenants to successfully maintain their tenancies. We advise on income maximisation, welfare benefits, debt management and budgeting. We work with people who are struggling to manage in their homes due unsuitability or other barriers. Our aim is to provide our customers with the information, knowledge and experience required to enable them to manage their own tenancy related problems. We signpost to many other agencies and the role is varied and diverse.

We are looking for enthusiastic and skilled individuals. Ideally, you will have experience in a Local Authority or Housing Association. You’ll certainly know about welfare benefits, household budgeting, mental and physical health problems, substance misuse and the many other issues that our customers must overcome.

Your expertise comes with a confident, customer-focused approach. You can think creatively, solve problems and have a gift for communicating effectively with a wide range of people – from vulnerable residents and their families to other professionals.  You should be able to communicate, advocate and negotiate effectively to produce results that enable our customers to successfully maintain their tenancies with us.

Housing experience is an advantage however we welcome applications from candidates with demonstrable relevant experience.
