Assessment & Income Assistant

The starting salary for this position is £24,780 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

A great opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals to join our Financial Assessments and Income Collection service. In this role you will be the first point of contact and source of information for Surrey residents on how the council charges for care and support services.

We currently have the following Assessment and Income Assistant vacancies within the Financial Assessments and Income Collection service:

  • Two full-time (36 hours per week), permanent roles
  • Four full-time (36 hours per week), fixed-term contracts or internal secondments – all to end on 31st March 2023

Internal applicants – please ensure you have discussed this secondment opportunity with your current Line Manager before you submit your application.

Assessment and Income Assistants will be co-located with Adult Social Care and finance staff in various settings across the county so your location preferences can be discussed at interview.

These are critical roles at the forefront of the service. You will be required to explain the paying for care process, support residents to use the council’s online financial assessment and payment tools and to actively identify barriers to residents making regular payments of social care charges. You will be required to co-ordinate visits for officers where necessary, answer general telephone and email enquiries and allocate more complex casework where necessary.

We are looking for individuals with a flexible approach and a willingness to tackle a wide range of administrative and customer service activities. Flexible and agile working is supported and successful applicants will be encouraged to explore personal development opportunities across the service.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.

This job advert closes at 23:59 on Sunday 3rd July 2022.

Apart from two permanent full time vacancies, there are four full time, fixed term contracts/internal secondments, which will all end 31st March 2023.
