Licensing & Compliance Officer

The Council is seeking to appoint a Licensing and Compliance Officer to support the Licensing team within Regulatory Services. The successful candidate will undertake a range of technical and administrative duties in relation to  our specialist licensing services. As a member of a team, you will contribute to the delivery of the licensing enforcement programme and respond to complaints and other requests for services

We are looking for someone who will provide an excellent quality service to all our customers by processing applications, undertaking inspections, investigating; complaints and providing advice to support business and the economy, to safeguard the vulnerable and young persons and to protect public safety. This will be delivered via a mixture of prevention, intelligence and enforcement. The post holder will work with a range of partners, internal and external to the organisation in order to improve compliance and maintain a safe and fair licensing environment. You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including maintaining accurate records, drafting reports and dealing with correspondence.

The post involves ensuring compliance with the conditions and legislation associated with all types of licences granted by Licensing. These include private hire and hackney carriage, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, sexual entertainment venues, scrap metal, charitable street collection and household collection.

The successful candidate with be educated to GCSE grade C level in Mathematics and English or be able to demonstrate equivalent aptitude and have experience using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer..   

The successful candidate may also be required to attend occasional evening meetings.
