Sandhurst secondary school is looking to recruit a science technician/trainee senior technician to join their busy science department team. The science technician role involves providing a wide variety of resources to support science lessons, especially student practical experiments and teacher demonstrations, including clearing up afterwards. The technician role involves some student contact.

This role would suit someone with some laboratory experience and/or relevant qualifications, who would also enjoy working in a secondary school environment. Therefore, we have included the potential of a Classroom Assistant aspect to the role, should that be of interest to candidates. For example, someone who may be considering applying for teacher training in the future.

If you are interested in the trainee senior technician role, then there would be an extended period of training in which skills and experience can be acquired. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you, either before or during the interview process.

For further information on any of these roles please contact Jimmy Heslop, Subject Leader for Science.

The closing date is: Monday 13th June at 9:00am

Applicants may be invited to interview before the closing date, therefore please take the opportunity to apply as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close the advert early should the right candidate apply.

In November 2017 Ofsted reported that:

  • "The Headteacher, leaders and governors are committed to improving pupils' life chances."
  • "Pupils' conduct is typically good and they treat one another with respect."
  • "Pupils feel safe and are kept safe"
  • "Pupils are well looked after and are provided with the opportunity to succeed"
  • "Strong relationships exist between staff and pupils"

Employment is with Corvus Learning Trust and not Bracknell Forest Council. The trust is very popular and for most posts a large number of applications are received - it is therefore not possible to notify all applicants of the outcome. Please accept that if you have not heard within three weeks of the closing date then, unfortunately, your application has been unsuccessful - in which case we offer our best wishes for the future.
