About us 

Brighter Futures for Children is an independent, not-for-profit-company, wholly owned by Reading Borough Council. Our responsibility is to deliver quality children's services, early help, education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services to children and families in Reading. 


About role 

The role is to work as the Business Support for Together for Families (TFF) Team providing business administrative support to the Management Team, Social Workers, and other Professionals as necessary.  
Together for Families (TFF) Service is an exciting new development for Brighter Futures for Children and has been introduced in order to improve services for children in Reading, and to help achieve the vision that is to help every child have a happy, healthy and successful life. Further to this, our service pay credence to the five underlying principles of trauma informed practice - safety, choice, empowerment, trust and collaboration.  


The role includes: 

  • Dealing with and responding to a variety of contacts including telephone calls and face to face clients ensuring appropriate message taking or signposting with clear, precise and accurate information.  Responding accurately to standard Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) 
  • Accurate and timely data entering onto appropriate electronic document management systems 
  • Retrieving and investigating information as requested and liaising with internal and external sources/agencies/partners etc.   
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children and vulnerable adults  
  • Setting up maintenance agreements and contracts with external suppliers. Liaising with contractors and other organisations to carry out home repairs 


The Business Administrator is required to have: 

  • GCSE English & Maths grade C or recognised equivalent 
  • Previous demonstrable experience of using Microsoft products and databases 
  • Experience of working in a high-pressured environment and being a confident communicator. 
  • Demonstrable experience where there are constant demands on time, preferably supporting multiple users and managing conflicting priorities
