Finance Assistant

Salary – NJC Grade 4 (£19,650 - £20,043 pro rata)

Hours per week – 30 hours per week (with flexibility of start and finish times)

Weeks Per Year – Term Time plus 2 additional weeks per year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a professional, highly organised and self-motivated Finance Assistant to support the Finance Manager and work as part of a small, friendly team providing a comprehensive and responsive financial service to the College. 

This is a busy and varied role with the emphasis placed on running the purchase ledger and establishing successful supplier relationships. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential as is the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Source and place all orders required by the College.
  • Receive and check goods when delivered.
  • Undertake price comparisons to ensure best value is achieved.
  • Establish good working relationships with suppliers.
  • Process invoices and prepare payment runs to ensure that invoices are paid in a timely manner and accurate, up to date financial records are maintained.
  • Monitor department spending and provide regular updates to budget holders.
  • Prepare the monthly credit card reconciliation.
  • Assist with pupil and parent enquiries.

 

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Although training will be provided, experience of working in a school setting would be advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office packages essential (word and excel).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • An understanding of the need for confidentiality and awareness of financial security procedures.
  • Willingness to support other staff in the finance office as required.
