The Council's Housing Property Services manages a significant portfolio of residential property, from Victorian Terrace Houses, through to High Rise Flats and Modern Care facilities. At the heart of the property services division is the Asset Management Team who are responsible for collection of data in relation to the council’s portfolio and the development of programmes of work on a ‘just-in-time’ basis and ensure we are fully compliant with all housing and H&S legislation.

About the role
You will be required to undertake a full range of survey types in relation to the Council’s housing stock; Condition, Decent Home and the verification of Energy data. As a senior team member, you will also be involved with the development of the Council’s ambitious repair and improvement programmes.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Undertake a range of surveys on all property assets including occupied dwellings, garages, communal areas and public spaces.
- Complete stock condition surveys, environmental surveys, HHSRS surveys, and the verification of Energy data and other surveys/assessments and audits as required.
- Ensure results of surveys are accurately recorded in the asset management system, in a timely manner, using hand held data capture equipment.
- Assist in the design and implementation of all types of surveys, audits and assessments and related processes.
- Take responsibility for identifying and reporting defects, quality issues, tenancy issues and other items that may affect the security of Housings property portfolio.
- Provide professional and technical advice to teams within Property Services and Housing Management.
- Keep up to date knowledge of current construction materials and products.

You will need to be a good communicator with a background in building maintenance, with proven experience of undertaking a similar role for a social housing provider. A professional building surveying qualification, MCIOB or MRICS, would be advantageous. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team, liaising with tenants and clients to provide a high-quality professional service.
The following experience is required for this role:
- Suitable knowledge of relevant statutory legislation.
- Ability to analyse problems and to provide flexible responses and advice.
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in order to write reports, and to work effectively with tenants.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be highly self-motivated.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- You will be office based although the majority of time ’in the field’ undertaking surveys
