A vibrant and diverse borough, from the soaring heights of Canary Wharf to the bustling street market on Petticoat Lane, Tower Hamlets is home to some of London’s most recognisable street scenes. This vibrant borough is also one of London’s most diverse: a proud melting pot of cultures and traditions that makes Tower Hamlets such a unique place to work and develop your skills with good quality experience. Based in East London, with excellent transport links and in close proximity to Canary Wharf, our borough is a fascinating place to work with a rich history and heritage.

Tower Hamlets Council Pension Fund, part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), has a total membership of over 23,000. Our aim is to provide members and employers with an accurate, timely and personal member-focused service.

We are looking to appoint a Principal Accountant Pensions to support the Head of Pension Fund Investments in the management of the Pension Fund’s accounts, reconciliations and investments (£2.1bn+).

As Principal Accountant Pensions you will be responsible for reconciliations, accounting, produce the fund accounts and investments of the pension fund, and implement innovative and efficient solutions to problems whilst project managing the production of the accounts and annual report. From time to time you will assist with treasury management strategy and daily treasury investments for the Council.

A qualified accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACA etc), with significant experience post qualification experience at a senior level in Local Government Pension Accounting. An investment qualification e.g. Investment Management Certificate is desirable but not essential.
