Panning Manager - North

Team: Planning Delivery
Job Family: Enabling, CBG14
Salary: £48,659 - £51,915 per annum plus £3000 market rate supplement per annum (subject to review)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Base Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent
Closing Date: 17th July 2022

Our recently adopted Local Plan has always been about more than planning just for homes and jobs. It’s about creating communities in a highly sustainable way. This means planning for new and improved roads and transport infrastructure; and new community facilities and services, such as schools, nurseries, shops, sport and leisure facilities. We are already embarking on a review of the Local Plan which will set out further opportunities for growth.

 

We are currently planning to deliver up to 39,000 new homes and 24,000 new jobs over the next 20 years. Our aim is to deliver the growth in a way that respects and maintains the character of Central Bedfordshire and delivers infrastructure and services to support it and maintain the environmental qualities of the area that our communities value so highly.

 

Your role

This is an exciting opportunity to work for an Authority that will be at the heart of an area which will be expected to deliver significant growth yet maintain its distinctiveness, a challenging ambition. To do this you and your team of experienced planners will shape the future of new developments and influence what they could bring to the area for its residents, its environment and economy. You will provide a closely managed, co-ordinated approach to the processing and determination of planning applications in the northern half of Central Bedfordshire, ensuring scrutiny to what is proposed to get the best outcomes for the Council and its residents.

 

You’ll have a degree or masters in Town Planning with significant Development Management experience within a Local Authority. Either with experience of managing a team or as a highly experienced planner in development management looking for the next step up in your career, you will be keen to apply leadership skills to provide a customer focussed service.
