Teacher of Strings

The school currently has a vacancy for a peripatetic teacher to teach one-to-one and small group violin lessons and contribute to our extra-curricular programme.

Running at least one extra-curricular club

10 weekly sessions per term

Our school values ‘Be Proud, Aim High, Work Hard, Be Kind, No Excuses’ are at the centre of everything we do to maximise girls’ progress, develop their character and promote their emotional health and well-being. We are an oversubscribed girl’s school in East London and offer excellent opportunities for professional development and a great working environment.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate with:

  • Experience and expertise in one to one and small group violin/viola teaching.
  • The ability to take the lead on one or more of our extra-curricular classes.
  • The ability to inspire young people from a range of different contexts and backgrounds to high quality music making.
  • The ability to collaborate with the rest of the music team to maximise student progress.
  • The ability to teach beginner cello is desirable but not essential.

Our girls love music and enjoy making the most of opportunities to perform in concerts throughout the year both in school and around London. The music department has recently moved into brand new facilities on site offering students access to high quality music making. We also work closely with Newham Music Service as well as our partner schools in the Newham Community Schools Trust. Students are very keen to learn and develop their violin skills and our strings programme has really progressed in the last year with many string players participating in our latest concert. We are looking for someone who can continue to inspire our students and raise their standards of musicianship.
