The role

The post is within the Property Services Department providing an essential service to the authority and will based at the Civic Centre in Gravesend.   The role is to provide general caretaking operations to support the effective functioning of the Civic Centre and Woodville Theatre site.  Activities include but not limited to opening or closing premises each day depending upon the shift pattern, carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of site infrastructure, assistance with compliance inspections, stocktaking and replenishment of various cleaning products and other consumables for the site, provision of waste management support, carry out specialised cleaning, painting and decorating as required, PAT Testing (training provided), react and address Health & Safety issues where required and competent and provide support for Council Business Meetings.  You will also be part of the out of hours callout service for the Civic Centre which would be on a rota basis shared between up to 6 people.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, self-motivated and flexible with effective communication skills, ideally with previous experience in a similar role and with general handyperson or trade related skills.  It is also essential to hold a full driving licence, as you may be required to work at other Council locations.
