Facilities Support Officer

Job Title: Facilities Support Officer (Libraries)
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Starting Salary: £21,695 with the opportunity to progress to the maximum £24,920
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

Job Duties:

As Facilities Support Officer you will have the opportunity to actively participate in the ongoing development of the library delivery network.  You will manage a small team of drivers and plan routes to ensure the timely delivery of stock and other items to libraries and other adhoc deliveries to settings across the County.  You will have strong team management skills with experience in leading and managing team performance.

Another aspect to the role is working with libraries, Herts Property and external suppliers.  Alongside other library colleagues you will agree repairs and maintenance priorities and ensure the effective operational support for these, and for refurbishment projects. You will identify training for library staff around health & safety and property management, to ensure a consistent level of knowledge and good practice. You will also ensure the effective development of service continuity and emergency plans for Libraries.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing a building and will act as site manager for the Central Stocks Unit.  They will have an understanding of the operational requirements of the frontline library service, and knowledge of current health and safety policies.

You will be able to communicate effectively with staff and external suppliers, be organised, able to prioritise and deliver to deadlines. You will be calm under pressure, have excellent problem-solving skills and able to cope with constantly changing priorities.

Working times will be office hours Monday to Friday, though occasional working outside office hours may be required. With the option of working from home 1 day a week, the rest of the week working from our Central Stocks Unit.  The ability to make site visits to libraries, sometimes at short notice, is required so immediate access to a car is essential.
